The Warrior Express - OMA Running Club

We are excited to announce the creation of an OMA running club for all lower school students beginning in the fall of 2008.  This is an exciting new program for our students and a special thank you goes out to Marnie Lipham for her excitement and willingness to get this program “running”.  This type of program has been very successful in neighboring counties and is a great way to keep our students in shape and enjoying the great outdoors.  The running club is not about how fast a child can run but about his or her participation and determination.

In conjunction with plans for the “Warrior Express” running club, plans are underway for the construction of an OMA Cross Country Fitness Trail.  Our goal is to raise $15,000 by May 12.  Through the generosity of several OMA families, we have already raised $7,500 for this project; we are half way there!  The funds raised for the OMA Fitness Trail will allow us to clear the trail and construct a small bridge.  The trail will begin just behind the tennis court and continue all the way around the OMA campus.  The trail not only will be used by our Warrior Cross Country team but by all OMA athletes for conditioning.  We also foresee this as a great asset for the community as a whole and as a teaching tool.

Our thanks go out to Brian McLeod (dad of Austin and Tucker) for assisting with the layout of the 3.1 mile trail.  Our OMA Key Club has agreed to donate their time this summer to assist with clearing the area and beautifying the trail.

If you are interested in volunteering to help with organizing our new running  program or contributing to the construction of the OMA Cross Country Fitness Trail, please e-mail Marnie Lipham at liphamm@bellsouth.
