Gorillas
Gorilla’s habitat is
tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests. Their location of their habitat is in Central Africa. The
Eastern and Western gorillas are endangered animals. The gorillas are endangered mainly by hunting
and logging throughout their ranges. Scientists warn that less than 10% of
their remaining habitat could be left undisturbed by the year 2030. Gorillas
are threatened by hunting for food, pets, and diseases and their body parts are
used in medicine and as magical charms.
The gorilla can reach a height of 1.25 – 1.75 meters when standing on
two feet. The weight is 70 – 140 kg. in females and 135 – 275 kg. in
males. Gorillas are stocky animals with
characteristically large hands, and forearms that are much shorter than the
upper arm. Gorillas eat leaves, shoots, fruit, bulbs, bark, vines, and nettles.
They also eat ants, termites, grubs, worms, and insect larvae. Man is gorillas
only enemy because of the actions of male gorillas protecting their groups with
