Monday

Keyboarding

--Students will use Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing to improve the speed and accuracy of their typing skills.  Advanced students will use the SpeedSkin for touch typing.

Tuesday

Project

--Students will work on long-term projects, based on their classroom studies.

Wednesday

Tools

--Students will learn various aspects of the computer tools available to them, such as the "copy and paste" command, MS Word, Paint, Excel, the Internet, etc. 

Thursday

Concepts

--Students will study issues and events surrounding Technology, such as history, ethics, security, commerce, etc.  There will be periodic assessments.

Friday

Keyboarding/Study Hall

--Study Hall or Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing)

 

Each class session will consist of:

5-7 min - logon, daily Internet activities

35 min - main activity

5 min - summary, logout

Grading:

Homework will be rare but very important. I will make you well aware of homework due dates--late work will NOT be accepted.

Most assignments are created/completed in class. A completed document, a vocab crossword, a correctly designed spreadsheet; in other words, work product.

Progress will be determined by project portfolios, content assessments, MBTT evaluations, participation score. Grades will be recorded using the Middle School Interdisciplinary scale.

Projects:

The projects and activities are designed to help students meet the standards and benchmarks of NETS and the OMA Tech. Ed. curriculum. Over the course of three years, students will become proficient in using documents, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics and networks to research, organize and demonstrate learning.
